Charlotte J. Nash was elected Chairman of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners in a special election on March 15, 2011. She most recently served as president of a consulting firm specializing in governmental and public financial strategy and management. Prior to starting her small business, Charlotte worked for Gwinnett County Government for 27 years. She served as the County Administrator for nine years and previously held the positions of Director of Financial Services, Budget Director, and Grants Manager. Charlotte managed 24 annual budgets and implemented capital budgeting and long-term financial planning processes during her career with Gwinnett County.
Charlotte has also been active in numerous civic, business, and service organizations in the community. She has served on the Gwinnett Recreation Authority and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority/Governor’s Development Council. She currently serves as a member of the Atlanta Regional Commission Board and the Transportation Investment Act Atlanta Regional Roundtable. The Atlanta Business Chronicle named Charlotte one of the 100 Most Influential Atlantans in 2011.
Charlotte is a Gwinnett County native who has lived her entire life in the Dacula/Harbins community. She graduated with honors from both Dacula High School and the University of Georgia, where she received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Charlotte and her husband, Michael, have been married for 38 years and have two grown children and two granddaughters.

Shirley Fanning Lasseter was first elected to the Board of Commissioners in November 2008. She was born and raised in High Point, North Carolina, and is a longtime resident of Gwinnett County. Prior to her election to the Board, Shirley served as mayor of Duluth for 14 years. Deeply involved in her Gwinnett community, she is a member of the Duluth Kiwanis Club and the Duluth Merchants Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Safe Kids Georgia and Operation HOPE, an organization that promotes financial literacy. She was appointed by two governors to the state's 911 Board. Shirley has served as chairman for the American Heart Association and is the founder of The Living Memorial in Duluth.
Shirley is a graduate of Brenau College for Women and received her master of education degree from Georgia State University. She is a former teacher with the Gwinnett County and DeKalb County Public School Systems and has taught Sunday school. She currently serves as Director of Public Safety Education for the Georgia Department of Insurance and Fire Safety.
A mother of four, Shirley has two sons and two daughters. She is the proud grandmother of five. She lives in Duluth and is a longtime member of the Duluth First United Methodist Church.
